Egypt: Engineering an Empire

1. The Nile River helped fertilize the land which grew the food that they would eat. It was also a great source of transportation that helped make canals for traveling.

2. The Egyptians used the Nile for transportation. They would float downstream and row upstream. The canals were built for east to west transportation.

3. The people worshipped the Pharaoh like a god. The Pharaoh had absolute power which allowed him to command major projects. The people thought that the Pharaoh was divine and would be reborn like the sun god.

4. The workers had to face the heat and hunger of the day. They also had to carry blocks that were tons and they did not have machines to do it for them. I think that they were motivated by the pharaohs divinity.

5. The controlling of the Nile helped feed all of the people and armies. The building of structures allowed for shelter.

6. Being able to build structures with the size that they did without any help from machines is almost impossible. They were able to lift rocks that weighed tons. This would be very difficult for modern people to be able to do.
